Personality: Akiko has a very defensive personality, only opening up to people that she trusts, which means that she does not open up to many. This is because Akiko only comes to trust someone after they have proven themselves to her, usually through combat, as she respects people of a higher skill then her own. In this sense she admires strength, and those that possess it. However, this is not blind admiration, for she also only respects those with noble strength, used for altruistic or morally right means. Akiko is quick to judge people, and will react by her initial interpretation of them, taking a very long time usually before this interpretation changes. She is especially defensive around strangers, usually giving them suspicious lances when they are not looking, or silently examining them with her heightened senses of hearing and smell. Her defensive nature stems from her desire to prove her strength, and to do so she feels that she must avoid showing any signs of weakness. However, in a deeper sense this desire to prove herself comes from the fact that she was abandoned at birth, and thusly she quickly learned in life that the only person that can be trusted is one’s own self. Growing up her only friend was her cat, Neko, but after fusing with the cat using her clan’s ritual, the girl now depends on herself more then ever, as she and Neko are now one. She has been known to hiss at those she finds with disgust, or just those that startle her, as she has a very cat like personality. However, no matter how hard she tries, she cannot help but admit, to her at least, that she is scared of what it might take for her to succeed, and there are times when doubt plagues her mind. In times of fear, she finds it harder to hide her emotions then other, for, like most cats, her tail will stick up straight. However, the cat like features of her body to not serve as a curse, as she is more apt to respond to dangerous situations then before, being able to better perceive the world around her with her heightened senses.

Clan: N/A
Personal history: From birth, Akiko was destined for a forgotten life, and in fact her name itself came from this fact, as in the Megami clan the word “Akiko” means “forgetfulness”. Born to the Beast Tribe of the Megami Clan hidden within the forests of the Land of Lightning, the girl was born as the first of twins, being only slightly older then her sister Lyre. Multiple offspring in a litter is not uncommon for cats, but it is a strange occurrence for the human aspects of the Megami. Thusly, it was decided upon the birth of these twin Megami that the two would be separated, Lyre kept within the hidden settlement of the Beast Tribe, and Akiko given up to the villages of the Beorc, normal humans. Her life, thusly, began as a cruel joke, a test to see how well a Megami born child could survive from birth within a normal society, not hidden within the forest. The infant, still happy with the bliss that comes from infinite ignorance of the world she was born into, was carried by the ruler of the village himself, held within one of his large, lion like hands as he approached a human village by the cover of night. The infant Akiko was abandoned on the steps of a orphanage located in a small village of the Land of Lightning. The hooded figure left the infant with only a small cloth tied around her wrists that had her name written upon it, a silent testament to her being forgotten by her clan.
The orphanage that raised Akiko was a cruel place, and so she lived the first years of her life highly impoverished. The facility utilized the discarded children under their care as a source of cheap physical labor, and from the time she could stand and comprehend, Akiko was put to work. She would constantly wear bruises received from her caretakers, and she became very untrusting of the world and all within it, finding only peace in being alone, for when you are alone, no one can hurt you. At night she would be forced to sleep in a cage of a room, and by day she would not know anything but work, not so much as having time for play. By the age of seven, Akiko had had enough of her imprisonment and she fled to the streets, which had a far better appeal to them then did her orphanage home. For three years, Akiko lived in the harsh alleyways of the village, surviving off of the piteous scraps of food she could salvage or steal. Even in this time she was no stranger to beatings, for nobody cared what happened to the little orphaned stray. However, little did she know that even in this time of her life she was not alone, for she was always being watched from a distance by the eyes of her hidden clansmen.
Living on the streets taught Akiko the hardships of life early on, but it also taught her how to survive these hardships, learning skills most do not obtain till later in life. When a day came when she crossed paths with a group of ruffian children that were abusing a fellow stray, and abandoned cat, she instantly reacted to help, taking time to notice only that the cat seemed familiar, as though she had seen it in the village before. Feeling sympathy for the unwanted and neglected animal, Akiko fought off the gang and treated the injured feline, connected with the creature because they were one in the same, both not having a home or a family. The first and only friend Akiko had was this cat, who she named Neko out of simplicity. The two became inseparable over time, as they relied on each other to survive. Neko, for a cat, was exceptionally bright, and assisted Akiko in every undertaking, though there were times when their personalities would collide. For some unknown reason, Akiko was able to understand the cat, slowly at first, but then developing into an almost perfect translation. Although this understanding was not so clear that it was spoken in words, Akiko understood what Neko meant when it meowed, or what it was trying to say from the way it moved or reacted. At least for a time, despite her impoverished surroundings, her and Neko were happy. Though it was not revealed to her till latter in life, Neko was actually a gift form her clan, and as it would turn out Neko was also from a litter of twins, Neko’s sister being the cat that Akiko’s own sister fused with, while Akiko was given the other by random chance. In this sense, there is fate within the world.
Although they were living an impoverished life, and although they still slept in alleyways and survived off of scraps, both Akiko and Neko were happy during these years, for at least they had each other. However, with the rise of local gangs of bandits in the area, Akiko’s town was one of many that fell victim to frequent and repetitive raids. The bandits extorted the villages for “protection” money, and when the poor townsfolk could not afford to keep the bandits at bay, they attacked. In the wake of night a horde of marauders rained down upon the defenseless village, wherein lied Akiko and Neko, who had both already laid down for a night’s rest. The attack was brutal, laying waist to the village in the heat of fire and destruction. The violent brigands ransacked the homes before setting the entire village ablaze. Within the raising flames, Akiko and Neko were caught between the raging fires, and two murderous bandits. By this time, shinobi of Kumogakure had arrived to aid the village. However, not a one was there to save a girl and a cat nobody cared about, and it seemed like the two were done for, an unwanted death for an unwanted life. The end, however, is not so certain for most, for at that moment she lept in a blind fury. Although in her blacked out state she wouldn't remember it two important things would happen. One She'd taken down both assailants before they could react, and two a squad of kumogakure ninja would witness it. After watching her feint the shinobi decided to take her back to the village for medical attention, followed closely by Neko of course.
Life in kumogakure was interesting for Akiko and Neko. After healing shed decided to join kumogakure as a shinobi. Although she still didn't trust alot of them some had began winning her over. Much latter in life another stray would enter the village. This stray Gaido was revered by most of the cloud shinobi immediately after joining with them. Someone so great the entire village was already this interested, the hype wouldn't escape her. After about a decade the stray she befriended became Raikage and named her to his administration. Akiko couldn't be more excited.
